Kitchen Efficient- Tips On How To Cook Healthy Meals When You're Crazy Busy


Consuming nutritious and wholesome meals is essential for our overall well-being. I firmly believe in the saying "You are what you eat," as what we consume significantly affects our health; it can either be detrimental or provide nourishment and healing.

Therefore, cooking healthy meals for my family each day is one of my top priorities as this is one way I like to ensure that my family and I are living our life optimally.

Through this article I will share with you my simple tips on how I cook healthy meals efficiently despite being extremely busy running on my household.



  • Have your fridge, pantry and freezer always stocked.

  • Cook a large portion of meat at the beginning of the week so that you can take out and make various meals with it throughout the week .

  • Besides having your fresh vegetables and fruit, always have frozen ones in your freezer available for you to use anytime.

  • Buy diced frozen vegetables so you don't have to waste your time chopping.

  • Cook a large quantity of a side dish that you can use in various ways throughout your week. For instance, I like to cook a big pot of ratatouille at the beginning of the week and I use this dish in so many different ways; as a side dish with my meat or fish, on top of pasta, with quinoa, with crackers, on top of bread, etc.

  • Freeze a large quantity of vegetarian chili or lentil potato soup so you have those on hand for those crazy busy days.

  • Having wild-caught smoked Atlantic salmon in your freezer ready to serve after 15 min of thawing it out in a casserole dish filled with warm water.

  • Use a rice-cooker.

  • Store cooked rice, quinoa, lentils, and pasta in the fridge so that you can pull them out and reheat on stove-top within minutes.

  • Squeeze lemon juice in ice cube trays and place in freezer to ensure you always have lemon on hand when needed.

  • Use your oven timer when you have to leave home so that your meal will be ready for when you return.

  • Cook large quantities so that you have left-overs in the fridge for the following day.

  • Use your crock pot.

  • Blend fruits, vegetables, coconut milk, and oatmeal to drink up a balanced meal in 5 minutes when you're really pressed for time.

  • Make smoothies daily with frozen fruit and water daily to ensure you get your vitamins in.

  • Buy pre-washed potatoes so that all you have to do is rinse them quickly, chop and they'll be ready to bake or steam.

  • Buy pre-cooked organic tomato sauce made with extra-virgin olive oil and herbs in a glass jar.

  • Make lots of different kinds of soups as they are nourishing and quick to make. i.e, potato soups, lentil soups, pastina soups, vegetable bean soups, etc.

  • Making stir fry's are quick meals to make,

  • Buy pre-cooked meat.

  • Buy pre-cooked vegetables.

  • Make various salads by adding vegetable or meat protein in them to make them a complete meal.

  • Make over-night oats making breakfast easy for the following day.

  • Roast your vegetables on an oven tray- Just drizzle olive oil, sea salt and black pepper on top for flavour, and voila ready in 20-25 minutes.

  • Pre-chop your onions and garlic and store in fridge or buy them pre-chopped.

  • Cook your grains in vegetable or bone broth for flavour and protein.

  • Use a food-processor.

  • Have beans and peas on hand.

  • Bake spaghetti squash.

  • Make sure your water filter is always filled.

  • Make healthy and raw snacks. For instance, mushed banana with fresh berries on top, celery, dates and apples, chestnuts and oranges etc.

  • BBQ your meals- whole peppers, potato halves, entire white onions, fish filets, etc.

  • Use a juicer! I do this every morning as a part of my breakfast routine.

  • Meal-prep on the weekend to avoid cooking during the week.

  • Make one-dish baked meals.




I take great pleasure in preparing nutritious meals for my family on a daily basis. I find immense satisfaction in knowing that the food we consume is not only delicious and healthy but doesn't require me to spend hours in the kitchen. Moreover, allowing me to demonstrate a concrete way of showing love to my family.
