Nutrition For Glowing Skin


Achieving naturally radiant, glowing, and youthful skin involves more than just the skincare products you use; what you consume is equally crucial for maintaining beautiful skin. A well-balanced diet rich in essential nutrients plays a pivotal role in the health and appearance of your skin. Foods that are high in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals help combat oxidative stress and protect your skin from environmental damage.

In this article, I will share with you the list of foods and herbs that I use on a daily basis that help my skin age naturally and gracefully.







  1. Spirulina

Spirulina is known as earth's natural multivitamin as it is rich in nutrients and antioxidants such as, complex carbohydrates, iron, protein, vitamins A &K also B Complex vitamins. It also has high amounts of GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) and chlorophyll. All these nutrients are highly beneficial to achieving beautiful skin.


I have been taking spirulina in capsule form for the past ten years every morning. I have used it as my prenatal vitamin during my pregnancies, which has been a definite contributing factor to my swift recoveries post-partum.

  1. Celery Juice


I have made juicing apart of my morning routine for over a decade now. I drink 16 ounces of celery juice on an empty stomach every morning due it's healing nature. I resolved several health problems, including eliminating the acne that I struggled with for four years in my late twenties. I had cystic acne that wouldn't go away, and I tried everything at the time to heal my skin , but neither conventional or nonconventional treatments worked. 3, Tumeric


Turmeric is a remarkable natural remedy in the realm of healing, traditionally utilized for its strong anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic, and anti-depressant properties. Turmeric has been used as a natural way to treat and prevent certain types of cancers, treat various inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, enhance and brighten skin tone and more.


I incorporate turmeric into my daily routine by alternating between taking it in capsule form, using it in my recipes, and drinking tea.

  1. Wild Blueberries


Wild Blueberries are excellent for eliminating toxic heavy metals, radiation, DDT, pesticides, and other toxins. Additionally, they have anti-pathogenic properties, and serve as a beneficial food for cancer prevention and help shield you from disease.


Like all berries, wild blueberries are also rich in anti-oxidants which are excellent in helping you maintain natural and youthful skin.


I consume wild blueberries daily in breakfast smoothies, in my oatmeal and in the berry bowls I make for my family and I.

7. Hibiscus Tea


Rich in antioxidants, hibiscus provides numerous health benefits. Notably in weight loss, inhibit the growth of bacteria and cancer cells, prevention of colds and flus, and promotes heart and liver health.


I drink hibiscus tea weekly as a way to prevent getting sick and also for maintaining beautiful skin.

8. Lemon Water


I drink lemon water everyday when I wake up in the morning and also before I workout as another way to age more gracefully and to give my body a natural boost of energy! Lemon water for me is what coffee is for most people.

Drinking lemon water not only flushes out the toxins in your body but also hydrates your body on a deep cellular level. Lemons are a high source of vitamin C,B and minerals such as calcium and magnesium . All of which are a great for the overall health of your skin.





9. Bananas


The simple banana, is a fruit we all take for granted! It is cheap and readily available at every food store. Bananas, are loaded with various health benefits and are a wonderful contributing factor to helping your skin maintain it's elasticity and radiance. I eat between 1-5 bananas each day, and consume them in my morning smoothies, as an afternoon and bedtime snack, also I take a bite right before I exercise to help build muscle and for that extra boost in energy !

Bananas consist mostly of water, yes.., you heard that right, and are loaded with vitamins such as, vitamin C, B6, potassium, copper and manganese. Who knew that by eating bananas consistently in your diet would have various health benefits?





10. Atlantic Dulse


Dulse from the Atlantic Ocean is a real healing food for aiding in the elimination of toxic heavy metals, radiation, pesticides, and other toxins from the body.

For this reason, I make a heavy metal detox smoothie each morning as a part of my breakfast and wellness routine for both my family and I. Every member loves this smoothie, even my youngest daughter who is only twenty months old. I have been drinking this smoothie throughout my pregnancies, and I believe this is part of the reason why my kids love this so much.

Another way, I eat Atlantic dulse each day is as-is. It has the nickname 'sea bacon' for a reason. It is crunchy and salty. It's a healthy alternative to chips and is something I like to snack on throughout my day.

Cilantro is another superfood with numerous healing properties, known for its unique composition that aids in healing salmonella poisoning, detoxifying heavy metals from the body, and providing a rich source of vitamins A, K, C, and minerals like magnesium, iron, and calcium.

Cilantro is a herb that contributes to the wellness of the overall health of my skin and is easy to incorporate into my daily routine.

Cilantro is an ingredient required in the heavy metal detox smoothie, but I also use cilantro in whatever salad I make daily. I chop it up in my kale salads, guacamole, romaine lettuce, tomato and cucumber salads, etc.





  1. Wild and Raw Honey


Consuming wild and raw honey has many benefits besides aiding in keeping your skin glowing naturally. It is also important for aiding fighting off various illness and also provides you with an array of vitamins and minerals offering you what your body needs to be keep strong and healthy.

I am blessed to be able to purchase wild and raw honey from my neighbor down the road, who is a bee farmer.

I consume wild honey in numerous ways; whether it be adding a teaspoon in my daily herbal teas, in my morning breakfast oatmeal as a natural sweetener, or eating it straight from the spoon as a quick puck-me-up as I go about my busy day as a stay-at-home-mom.





As women, we are flooded with messages and images about which beauty products to purchase, which filters or photo editing tools to use, or which procedures to undergo for beautiful skin, which can be overwhelming and discouraging. However, I prefer to stay empowered by adopting a natural, holistic approach. It's like killing two birds with one stone, as I like to focus on what's happening to my body from within, so that I may also attain naturally beautiful and glowing skin.
