The 5 Minute Fresh-Face No-Makeup Look

Here is my fresh face go-to look for when I would like to feel presentable but not put makeup on. The only makeup item I use is an almost-nothing- amount of rouge lipstick  to add just a little life to my natural no-makeup look.

Step 1- Start by Washing Your Face.

This is pretty standard as we have all heard the importance of washing our face in the morning.

For myself, I just use warm water to take off any residue from my previous night’s skincare routine and then splash cold water on my face a few times afterwards to get the blood circulation going which reduces puffiness and makes me look more awake.

Step 2-  Moisturize!

Oh so important. Moisturizing our skin is great in helping you age naturally and gracefully. Not only does it lock in the moisture in the skin, which protects it from irritation, but also helps prevent wrinkles and fine lines from forming. Who doesn’t want that?

Step 3-  Always Apply Sunscreen!

Using sunscreen is an important factor to age like fine wine. In fact, if I did not have even five minutes to get ready, and had to choose just one thing, it would be to put sunscreen on. Sure, this step alone does not allow you to look put-together, but it is an essential part to protecting your skin from sun damage, preventing discoloration, wrinkles, and other signs that age you quicker.

Step 4- Get Your Favourite Red or Pink Shade of Lipstick handy.

Ok, this is where your lipstick becomes your best friend as it isn’t a one-trick pony, but rather has multiple uses.

First dab a little of your rouge or rose lipstick on your lips. Don’t do a full lipstick look. Remember, this is about using (almost) no makeup.

Secondly, dab that same colour on your cheekbones and then spread it with your fingers to make yourself appear as if you are slightly blushing naturally. This gives your face a bit of life and youthfulness.

Thirdly, if you wish, you can apply that same lipstick on your eyelids along the lash link discreetly. This can give the eyes a bit of an allure.

Lastly, you can add a pea-sized amount of sunscreen and a dab of lipstick and mix those two ingredients together between your fingertips. Next, apply to your under eye area if you feel that you need some coverage. The white from your sunscreen and the touch of colour from your lipstick will create a natural concealer.

Step 5- Tame Those Brows

If you do not have an eyebrow spoolie brush, or do not have one handy, you can use your toothbrush to comb your eyebrows into place. I do not know if anyone else does this, but I have done this for years! All my kids and friends laugh at me when they see me do it.

I do own a spoolie brush, but have it tucked away in my makeup kit nowhere close to my sink and mirror, so this is what I do when I am in a rush. We all know that having well-placed brows frames your face making you more polished overall.

Et voila, c’est tout! That’s it. There you have it, a few little tips and tricks to leave you feeling more put-together and confident with who you naturally are whether you don’t have the time or the desire to put makeup on.
